Niños del Arco Iris Foundation
The Niños del Arco Iris Foundation is a non-profit organization that, for 23 years, has been providing education, health, and nutrition services to vulnerable children in Urubamba, Cusco. Their mission is to promote a comprehensive, quality education system for the extremely poor inhabitants of the Sacred Valley, and their vision is to develop responsible citizens capable of contributing to the world with positive values and change. Their missions are divided into three areas: Education, Nutrition, and Health.
- The educational institution "Niños del Arco Iris" offers free education to children in preschool and primary school, implementing innovative teaching methodologies. The goal is to stimulate students' curiosity, creativity, and autonomy, while ensuring equitable access to knowledge. In addition, the school offers various workshops, including English, Quechua, music, theater, and technology, to enrich children's learning.
- Aware of the importance of nutrition in children's development, the NGO provides free and balanced nutrition to all its students. In addition, children benefit from free pediatric consultations and personalized medical treatments, as well as the distribution of medication and vitamin supplements when necessary. They are provided with a variety of snacks and lunches every day to ensure their well-being. In addition, the NGO works closely with families, organizing nutrition and meal preparation workshops to promote good eating habits at home.
- The Zero Cavity program offers free dental care, including cleanings, fluoride application, and education sessions on oral disease prevention. In addition, health campaigns are regularly organized for the community, providing free access to specialized consultations. Within the school, a team responds to medical emergencies and regularly monitors students' health. Finally, awareness-raising efforts are conducted among families through educational activities aimed at strengthening their knowledge of health and hygiene.
There are several ways to support the NGO Niños del Arco Iris.
- During your visit to the Sacred Valley, you can spend from 2 hours to a day with children by participating in workshops and discovery days organized by the NGO.
- It is also possible to stay and eat at the foundation's hotel-restaurant, the profits of which go directly to educational and social projects.
